Switch the library from covers to spines and your books stand side-on, the way they would on a real shelf. Around three times as many fit on screen, so a library that took several screens of scrolling becomes something you can take in at a glance.
Nothing is invented: each spine is drawn from the book's own details. Thickness follows the page count, so a thousand-page doorstop really is fatter than a novella. Colour follows the genre. A bookmark marks what you're reading now, and that book fills from the bottom as you make your way through it.
Covers stay the default, and the shelf remembers itself once you pick it. Grouping, filtering and search work exactly the same in both.

FolioStory automatically works out which books you and a friend both own — matched by ISBN or by title and author, even across different editions — and gives each one its own conversation thread.
Mark a comment as a spoiler and it stays collapsed behind a reveal button until someone chooses to see it, so you can talk about a book together no matter who's further along. Edit your own comments any time, and a quiet dot lets you know when there's something new to catch up on.
